Opera Glasses and Hairspray: A Musical Review

By Jeff Bridges

Hairspray the musical is set in Baltimore, Maryland the year is 1962. Our hero in the musical is is a young overweight girl named Tracy. Tracy has always dreamed of becoming a big star, if and when you attend this musical, make sure you have a front row seat, if you don't you will want to be sure to bring your opera glasses, so as not to miss a moment of this fast-paced play.

One day, our hero, is watching T.V. And finds out that That the Corny Collins Show is having a huge dance contest, excitedly Tracy tells her mother that she would like to enter the contest. Her mother, who is overweight like Tracy discourages the idea that Tracy has had. In reality, Tracy's mother, would like nothing more to protect her daughter, as she knows that people will make fun of her for being overweight. Additionally, her mother feels that the show is racist.

With the good grace of her father Wilbur, Tracy finally gets permission to go on to the dance audition. During the audition, she meets with, and falls in love with a boy name Link Larkin. As the author I recommend, preparing for this moment, by making sure that you are using your opera glasses! You will surely want to catch the expression on Tracy's face as you see her fall hopelessly in love with Link. At this point, Tracy begins a beautiful song about love, and her dream of being with Link. Tracy is rudely awakened from her daydream, only to find out that due to her weight, she did not make the cut for the dance competition. Just as her mother suspected would happen from the beginning.

After the audition, Tracy returns to school down trodden, but as luck would have it, her troubles do not end just yet. Tracy is given detention simply due to the fact that her hair is just so big, her big hair causes such a problem, because those that sit behind her in class are not even able to see the chalkboard. For this reason, the musical Hairspray, is named Hairspray.

As Tracy sits in detention feeling sorry for herself she meets a nice black boy named Seaweed, Seaweed is a great dancer, and teaches Tracy some amazing dance moves. A dance party is scheduled for the school, and Tracy decides to attend despite her recent run of very bad luck. This time Tracy's luck is about to change, attending the dance, is the owner of the Corny Collins Show, the show that is to feature the dance contest, as he watches the dancers he notices the moves that Tracy puts on, he falls in love with her dance style, and chooses Tracy to dance on his show. Tracy is ecstatic to find out that at long last she will be on the show! Make sure you are using your opera glasses at this point.

Again after all this Tracy finds more good news, Link Larkin, the love of her life is to sing a romantic song to her on the show! Amber, who is another girl that attends Tracy's school is also in love with Link, finds out, and decides to take her rage out on on Tracy, cruelty ensues, including knocking Tracy out with a volleyball.

As the play continues, Tracy and others are invited to the record show that Seaweed's mother owns, A party is planned for all that attend. All during this time, Tracy becomes close friends with Seaweed, and is enraged to find out that blacks are only allowed to attend the Corny Collins T.V. Show once a month on "Negro Day" Tracy begins to fight for blacks rights. To find out how Hairspray ends, you will have to attend, but it will be a wonderful experience for all who go.

Hairspray is a delight to attend, and a bigger delight to hear, it is no wonder it made such a run on Broadway, Remember to bring your opera glasses to catch every last expression, and the wonderful costumes. This is truly a performance to cherish.

A Review of Shear Madness the Comedic Mystery with Opera Glasses

By Jeff Bridges

If you are reading this, you are probably planning on seeing Shear Madness which is a play written by Paul Portner. In this review, I would like to prepare you for the comedic experience of a lifetime! To get you started, let us just say that the title of the play is a drastic understatement. This is truly a performance requiring opera glasses.

The stage is set to take place at a unisex hair salon. The usual gossip takes place. As in real life, for some reason, people seem to think they need to share their utmost secrets with their hairdresser. So many funny lines take place as well as an intriguing storyline. The people acting are extremely believable characters. You have the snapping gum pretty hairdresser with a gorgeous figure who is an airhead, the brightly colored clothing character played by the homosexual hairdresser (fabulously played by John McGivern in Milwaukee, Wisconsin when I attended), a high class society woman, policemen and the different clientele that comes in. Of course, one man is a hunk which makes John McGivern's character giggle with glee.

Shear Madness is truly an evolutionary play; this is because it is always changing! What I mean by this, is that many of the words that are spoken in the play are not actually in the script but rather are given as improvisations by gifted comedians, in fact, much of the things talked about in the play focuses on current local and world news, you will never know what to expect. One of the things I found most amusing about this performance, is that many times, actors are caught off guard by the other actor's improvised lines, and you see them trying to contain their own laughter. For this you will surely want to bring your opera glasses as not to miss a beat!

During the play, all of a sudden, one of the characters will speak to the audience and ask for your opinion. People shout out the answer. Answers vary and it adds an entire new dimension to the already hilarious play. Be careful if you sit in the front three rows as you may be spotted out as the butt of a witty joke. Do not worry; the jokes are funny yet silly.

Aside from the typical chit chat you find in a beauty parlor, Shear Madness' plot turns to a murder mystery. The person who is killed is always the same; it is the owner of the parlor. The owner lived above the parlor prior to being murdered, and you will see that any of the characters potentially could have been the murderer. You will be working and trying to figure out who the murderer is; your opera glasses will help you to not miss any subtle hints.

There is one last twist me must tell you about this improvised performance, although the owner of the beauty salon is always the one who gets murdered at the beginning, the person who actually did the killing is different every time! As the plot develops the actors ask members of the audience for their opinions, and toward the end, a vote takes place in which the murderer is chosen. This development is always very comical, and you will love to hear the different reasons the killers give to justify their actions. There is one catch though, if you want to see why each murderer kills the owner, you will have to see it multiple times, as there is only one murderer in each showing!

This play is often called the longest running, or second longest running non musical performances. Many critics have given this play wonderful reviews, because of the witty comedy and wonderful performances, which is why of course; this play has been around for so long.

Opera glasses are always a crucial element in attending any performance, but especially this one. If you don't bring your opera glasses, you are sure to miss moments, clues and laughs. Make sure you have a pair in hand before you walk out the door to go.

Ruling The Highway With Harley Davidson

By Gregory Paul

What comes to mind when someone mentions the word Harley Davidson? Personally, I think of power, machismo, and anything that is hard core. I imagine somebody with massive arms, scary tattoos of snakes and dragons, long salt and pepper hair, sleeveless black shirt, leather coattails, earrings and all the works. The Harley Davidson is a legendary giant that owns more than 50% of the US motorcycle market and it is a symbol of raw power.

It was a fun surprise when I came across an article about the height of the seat of a hog being a major concern to almost all of their customers. Apparently, the seat height needs to be perfect to assure comfort while atop their monster ride. I had the perception that people take out their hogs on the road for a display of power but most just want a convenient cruise.

It is understandable though that a rider maintain a show of composure. With the perfect height, riders can be confident that they would be able to plant their feet on the ground when its needed. A hog owner reaching for the ground desperately could be a funny sight.

Browsing the history of Harley Davidson, you will note that the scene is dominated by radicals with raked out choppers like Dennis Hopper in the film Easy rider. There are also the temperamental nonconformists who take a hog to the road to escape their awful jobs and unhappy marriages.

It is surprising to note that today, there is a huge diversity of Harley Davidson owners. It could be a guy jumping from a Harley and flipping open his laptop to excitedly check on his facebook account. Across the road a woman is talking on her cellphone checking out how her kids are doing in college and then speed off on her hog.

There is a dramatic change in the clientele demographics of the Harley Davidson apparently because people want to own a hog for different reasons these days. While some are keeping true to the lifestyle, others simply want the prestige it brings.

Whatever their reasons are, one thing is clear. The hog is picked for the reputation it holds. It is power and freedom - an icon. When you are atop a Harley Davidson, you become a legend, and you are part of its rich history.

In the motorcycle world, the Harley is in a league of its own. It is classic and will always represent strength and craftsmanship. It symbolizes freedom and will always be king of the road.

The Truth About Saltwater Reels

By Ron Hampton

Saltwater reels are exactly what the deep sea fisherman needs in order to catch that big game fish. How else will he catch that mighty Marlin that has been evading him for more years than he cares to remember?

You will find that there is a variety of saltwater reels for you to choose from and the one you go for should be very specific to your requirements. You need to think about what sort of fish you are going to catch. A tuna fisherman won't need the same level of equipment that a marlin angler does.

A couple of the more common reels include the saltwater spinning reel which is used by almost every saltwater fisherman. The popularity of this reel is no doubt due to the fact that one can enjoy a very light weight spinning reel which are most suited for lighter fish. The average Joe is likely to be happy with this reel as it is good for catch and release fishing. If you are going to take part in some surf or deep sea fishing then you should look around for something heavier.

Other types of reels are the conventional reels, lever drag reels, bait casting and big game fishing reels. The type of fishing you do will determine the type of reel you use. If one looks at diagrams of these reels, they do all look alike but there are the slightest differences on all of them. For example, the lever drag conventional reel is smaller then the lever drag big game reel. The reel itself is bigger on the lever drag big game reel because of the weight, size and strength of the type of fish that will be caught. Therefore the bigger the fish, the bigger the reel.

If you want to make sure that you are not the one that has to talk about the big one that got away then you should take a look at these differences and choose the one that is right for you.

Even though some people do catch the fish and then release it once it has been weighed, the length and weight of the fish will be discussed around the fire with the beers after the long day of fishing is over.

If you want to make sure that you get the best saltwater reels for your needs then don't delay in seeking the help of fishing professional. They will give you the best advice and can recommend a good product.

Checklist For Camping Trips

By Hasse Larsen

A lot of people who go camping don't really know what they need to bring. This is something that will be better when they have done it few times. There is one thing that are common to experts in the camping community and that is how careful they plan every trip they go on. Some even feel that the planning is half the trip.

When camping, there are some things that everyone need to make sure that they don't forget. In the article that you are reading now, I will try to give you a few pointer on what the most important things to bring is. At least you should take the gear that I am mentioning into consideration.

When I am packing, the first thing i always pack is my cooking equipment. I prefer to use a cooking device that runs on gas, but it is entirely up to you what you want to use. You can of course also choose to rely on dry wood and a camp fire, but I have learned that it is good to at least bring my gas cooker.

Another thing that you should make sure that you don't forget is your tent. Even though the sun is shining and no clouds can be seen, I always bring the tent because you never know. It is a pain to walk back in pouring rain. Remember that you can sleep outside under that sky even if you have your tent in your backpack.

I know that a lot of people choose to leave their sleeping bag at home when they go camping. For me this is out of the question, because i can't sleep without something around my body. There are plenty of sleeping bags to choose from, so you should not have a problem finding one that will fit your needs. A mattress is also something i bring along.

My best friend when camping is without a doubt my GPS. The problem is that they are quite expensive. For just about anyone a map and compass will do just fine.

All the things that I have talked about here is the most important the gear category. There is another category that is maybe even more important; the supplies. The supplies category consist of things like food, drinks, tooth paste, etc. I know that a lot of un-experienced campers have problems finding and preparing food in nature, and will be much better off with food that they bring from home. Remember that camping should be enjoyed, it should not be a pain.

A Gold Coast Fishing Charter: An Experience of A Lifetime

By Paul G Saver

A great way to spend time on the Gold Coast, Queensland is to take a fishing trip on a charter boat. Gold Coast fishing charters operate from the Nerang River estuary known as the Broadwater at the northern end of the Gold Coast and the Tweed River at the southern end of the Gold Coast. So what can you expect to catch and experience during your Gold Coast fishing charter given that no two days are the same when it comes to fishing?

Gold Coast fishing charters can be divided into two basic categories: calm water and deep sea (offshore fishing).

Gold Coast fishing charters that run boats in the calm waters of the Broadwater, generally use small boats for up to six passengers. They generally target flat head, bream and whiting species of fish using light tackle. Sometimes offshore fish species such as snapper are caught here.

Most Gold Coast fishing charters are geared for deep sea fishing which makes it possible to catch some really large fish. Also it is common to view dolphins and whales as well as the opportunity to view the Gold Coast and mountainous hinterland looking from the ocean.

According to the summer to winter seasons, Gold Coast fishing charter operators adjust their plans accordingly.

The summer season is the perfect time for Gold Coast fishing charters to target pelagic fish such as wahoo, black marlin, mahi mahi and tuna. The summer season corresponds with warm water currents flowing from the north hence the arrival of these larger fish. In terms of reef fishing for bottom dwelling species it is better to avoid the deeper reefs and focus on the reefs closer to shore where snapper, teraglin, tailor and other species abound.

On Gold Coast fishing charters, the pelagic fish are caught using small live baits whilst for reef fishing (for bottom dwelling fish species) various types of bait are used.

When winter comes around, the fast traveling pelagic fish will have moved on. Now is the time for Gold Coast fishing charters to exclusively target reef fish at all depths. At the deeper reefs (60-90 meters) good catches of snapper, teraglin, pearl perch, amberjack and king fish are possible. Closer to shore, large cobia are target ted.

The winter season off the Gold Coast becomes an ideal location to witness the breathtaking appearance of whales, dolphins and turtles along with an increased abundance of various bird life. So who says that the only reason you go on a Gold Coast fishing charter is to fish? Which ever season you choose to go on a Gold Coast fishing charter, your experience will be unforgettable.

Sock Hops, Part 2: Getting the Essentials for a Good Time

By Ocianne Lambert

There are so many things to think about when putting together your own sock hop. In the midst of all the plans and outfits and other stuff, our minds can forget about the most essential things. Just to make your life easier, were going to go over the must needs for a perfect sock hop party.

Sock Hop Invitations: When throwing a theme party we first have to make sure that our invitations are consistent with that theme. Our friends need to be able to feel from the invitation what kind of party this is. You can keep it real simple if needs be. Try making your own invitations. They dont need to be fancy, just fun. Remember to keep with the colors of the 50s and 60s, and certain patterns can even bring out that time period. Dont forget to tell your friends to dress up in their best fifties outfits!

Sock Hop Costume: When picking out the perfect outfit youll need to study up on what was popular. Girls can never go wrong with a classic poodle skirt, poodle top or blouse, crinoline petticoat, saddle oxford shoes, chiffon scarf, cinch belt and cateye glasses. Guys will be able to pull off a nice fifties outfit with a pair of rolled up jeans, white t-shirt, oxford shoes or Converse shoes, leather jacket and greased back hair.

Sock Hop Food: This is an easy one- stick with good old traditional American food. You want to serve burgers, fries, shakes, malts and ice cream in tall serving glasses. If you can have servers (a nice touch) try and get them to wear roller skates, to really look like your eating in the 1950's or 60's. Everyone will love it!

Sock Hop Music: Just the right music and decorations are the perfect finishing touches to your party. Stick with the classics that everyone will know. Even throwing in a few modern remakes will liven up the crowd. Some classics of the 50s and 60s would be; Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, The Beatles and The Beach Boys.

Decorations: For decorations you want to set the scene. Make it look like a malt shop with pictures of the fifties or sixties or a juke box. You can also decorate in flashy bright pinks, seafoam green, and chartreuse. Another idea would be to have 50s car decorations or posters.

Some Extras: Add some extra fun with prizes. Everyone loves prizes! Have a dance contest with a small prize. A dress/costume prize that everyone can vote on. You may want the best dancer to teach some moves to everyone else- as they may have forgotten.

Whatever you do, relax and enjoy yourself. As the host or hostess, you make stress about the food, music or activities, but don't let it stop you from enjoying yourself. Everyone will relax and have fun if you do! Stop worrying and just kick off your saddle-oxford shoes, dance and have fun!

Dirt Bikes Helpful Informations

By Banga Koupit

Dirt bikes, also known as Trails Bikes are off-road, lightweight motorcycles built for cross country, unpaved, rough or uneven grounds. Since they are specifically designed for rough terrains, they are also equipped with rugged tires and suspension. They also have a smaller engine power than typical street motorcycles, normally less than 500 cc.

The US Department of Motor Vehicles issues green stickers for Dirt bikes once a year since they do not have license plates. It is also illegal to ride a Dirt Bike on city streets since it is only meant for off-road tracks.

The main difference between a Dirt Bike and a Street Bike is the suspension. Dirt Bikes have suspension with a lot more travel than Street Bikes, with higher ground clearance and are much lighter. Knobbies or deep treads on the tires of Dirt Bikes also give better traction through dirt, mud, sand or gravel. The engine is also placed on a higher level to avoid ground obstructions such as rocks, and the gas tank installed in the mid-section for better balance.

Buying new Dirt Bikes can be expensive. A new 4500cc Dirt Bike, for instance, can cost you as much as $8000. So if you still want to enjoy the excitement of riding an off-road motorcycle without spending too much, the best option is to go for a Used Dirt Bike.

Since these motorcycles are generally used for rough terrain, stunts and other extreme competitions, it is probable that some of the older ones will have cracks and dents near the engine mounts or loose bearings. If you don t know how to identify these flaws, take along a friend who s experienced with motorcycle parts.

Try to find a bike shop where you can test out models of different dirt bikes. This will be helpful in narrowing in on the style and size of bike you should purchase. Once you decide the brand you like, try running a search on the internet for cheap dirt bikes. You will be amazed at the results. You should be able to find a used version of the style you originally fell in love with.

Keep in mind when looking at used bikes the cost that may have to go into it if problems arise. Hopefully you are able to work with the seller and get them to be upfront and honest with any repairs that may be needed right away. If something breaks down after the purchase don't fret. The same website you found your bike most likely sells parts along with cheap dirt bikes. This same outlet that you found your bike and parts will most definitely sell some sick gear also. Stay safe, have fun and keep practicing!

Great Temples and Monuments of Egypt

By Debra Corbeil

At the top of every travelers list you will most likely find Egypt. People are drawn to its great monuments and world famous temples and pyramids. These incredible structures have intrigued us all for centuries.

While visiting this ancient city, you can imagine being back in the time of the Pharaohs. People still dress traditionally wearing their headscarfs and bedouin wraps. Call to prayer can be heard 5 times a day. There is a strong sense of tradition in the land and you feel as if you are frozen in time. Visiting the great pyramids lets you imagine exactly what life would have been like thousands of years ago.

It is impossible to understand how the Pyramids of Giza have survived over 4000 years. The desert, looters and all of the elements that Mother Nature can throw at them will not destroy these ancient structures. To see these giants standing proud over the land, you wonder in awe how they could have possibly be built by human hands. Take a camel to see the grounds and imagine that you are an ancient Pharaoh coming across these great monuments for the first time. What would it have felt like then?

Once you have explored Cairo, make your way south to Luxor a city located on the Nile River. It is here that you will find The Valley of the Kings, the final resting place for 63 kings and noblemen of ancient time. King Tut was buried here and his chamber can be explored.

A good travel tip is to hide your camera when entering the grounds. Many people manage to bring their camera's in and photos are allowed outside the temples. Do not however attempt to take a photo inside any of the temples. The flash can damage the ancient paints and you will have your camera taken away instantly. It is nice to have photo's from outside though because the valley is massive and impressive.

Rameses IV and Merneptah are two temples not to be missed. Well preserved and interesting, they are both quite different experiences. King Tuts tomb is most likely not open for visitors, but it is not considered and impressive tomb anyway. Only a handful of tombs are open to tourists at any one time, so you are at the mercy of what is open for viewing on the day of your visit. The chambers are all impressive though, simply for the fact that they are thousands of years old. But also with the grand scale of their size and for the scenes painted on their walls that have survived for centuries.

They have made the afterlife pleasant for their rulers. Large airy chambers are inviting and the bright colours on the walls make you feel as if you are visiting a joyous place rather than a place of burial. Kings were buried with great treasures, but the chambers in the Valley of the Kings are empty. Bandits had robbed the tombs years ago and whatever had been saved by excavators are now safely stored at the Antiquities Museum in Cairo.

Temple of Hatshepsut This was a surprising Temple that is a very popular destination. Egypt was ahead of its time by thousands of years. They had female Kings and Hatshepsut was one of their most successful Pharaohs. Ruling for 21 years.

It is one of the most successful temples blending harmoniously with the land. Built into the side of an imposing cliff, it is thought to be one of the most dramatic temples on earth. Massive and intricate it is a sight not to be missed.

Don't let the massacre of 1997 scare you away from seeing this great temple. Armed guards patrol the grounds and after 12 years, calm has been restored in the land. By the looks of the amount of people visiting the ruins, it has not been hurt by tourism in recent years.

Luxor Temple While in Luxor, you cannot miss the Luxor Temple. Located right in town on the Nile River, it is an impressive monument. It is lit up at night for breathtaking photo opportunities. A little travel tip...the McDonald's right across the street has an incredible view of the temple, but not only that, has free Wifi. So you can have lunch, update your blog and take in the sights all at once.

Standing on the banks of Lake Nasser enroute to Sudan is Abu Simbel this temple was originally built on lower ground. With the creation of the Aswan Dam, an enormous undertaking was initiated in the 1960s to move the ruins to higher ground to keep them from becoming submerged under water.

Abu Simbel was built in 1265 BC. Four great images of Rameses II stand 20-metres high overlooking the great lake. It is definitely worth the over 200km trip from Luxor, or you can see it from the ferry to Wadi Halfa in the Sudan.

It is difficult to grasp just how ancient everything is in the country. Everywhere you turn buildings are thousands of years old. It is almost overwhelming to fathom that every building, structure and monument has a story to tell.

Must See Temples and Monuments of Egypt Egypt's Temples, Monuments and Pyramids The Great Monuments and Temples of Egypt Great History to Explore in Egypt Things to See in Egypt

By Debra Corbeil

Egypt: A mystical country at the top of every explorers destination list. After all it houses the greatest monuments on earth. Its temples and pyramids are world famous and they have intrigued the human race for centuries.

It feels as if time is frozen visiting this ancient land. The call to prayer can be heard in the distance. Horse carts can be seen on the streets and you can almost feel the pulse of ancient Pharaohs as you sail on the Nile River. Nothing brings you back in time more than Egypts great monuments, and it has many.

Built is 2500 BC, the Pyramids of Egypt an incredible sight. You can see them from almost any point in the city, but an up close and personal view is a must. Rent a camel and guide and explore the ruins as the ancient explorers did. You will be away from all of the tour buses and even have the extra bonus of riding through the back alley ways of Cairo.

Once you have explored Cairo, make your way south to Luxor a city located on the Nile River. It is here that you will find The Valley of the Kings, the final resting place for 63 kings and noblemen of ancient time. King Tut was buried here and his chamber can be explored.

Your camera will be confiscated at the gate if they see it around your neck. The don't seem to do a thorough search, so if you want to have memories of your time in the Valley, keep it in your bag until you enter the grounds. However, be respectful and do not take any photos inside the tombs. Flash photography can damage the fragile walls and you will be in trouble with the guards if you are caught, which will most likely occur. Some harmless photos of outside however will give you lasting memories of this incredible sight.

Only a handful of tombs are open at any given time. King Tuts tomb is not high on the tour route as it is not an impressive tomb compared to the others. The tombs of Rameses VI, Merneptah, and Rameses IV are far more impressive. The chambers are surprisingly large and airy. They have bright paintings on their walls depicting scenes from the book of the dead, and the book of caverns among others.

They are comfortable and almost cheerful inside. They were large, bright and colourful giving a sense of peace. Albeit, there arent any sarcophagi left and all jewels and artifacts have either been looted in the past or moved to the Antiquities Museum. Still the valley is a very impressive sight indeed.

Temple of Hatshepsut This was a surprising Temple that is a very popular destination. Egypt was ahead of its time by thousands of years. They had female Kings and Hatshepsut was one of their most successful Pharaohs. Ruling for 21 years.

Built in harmony into the side of a cliff, Hatsheput's Temple is considered to be the most dramatically situated temple on earth. Three tiers lead to the main grounds where statues and pillars create a labyrinth to explore.

In 1997 a tragic event took place where 60 tourists were killed at the temple. After over a decade of time, things have returned back to normal. You hardly notice that such an event took place, however the armed guards are a reminder of unpleasant times.

Back in the town of Luxor you can find a great temple within footsteps of your hotel. Located in the heart of the city it is an impressive monument. Make sure to visit it at night for awesome photo opportunities as they are lit up for viewing. There are many shops and restaurants located across the street from the temple all with great views of the square out front where children play football.

The last temple that you must see in Egypt is Abu Simbel. Located on Lake Nasser, it is bit harder to get to than the others, but well worth the visit. In the 1960's it was relocated to a hight point on the lakes banks. With the construction of the Aswan Dam, it would have been buried underwater and lost forever. The relocation was a success however and it is alive and well ready to be viewed.

They are now safe and sound and ready for your viewing. Four 20-metre statues representing Rameses II stand guard over the banks of the lake. Built around 1265 BC, three of the statues are still in relatively good shape. You can take a tour from Luxor to see these temples up close and personal, it is well worth the 280km travel from Luxor. Next to the pyramids, they are one of the most recognizable images of Egypt.

Not many destinations rival the ancient country of Egypt. Besides its great temples and monuments, it houses the Sahara Desert, the Nile River and is located on the Red and Mediterranean Sea, there are activities for everyone to enjoy and it will not disappoint even the most jaded traveler.

Why Should I Buy Camping Chairs?

By Bengt Jensen

A lot of people wonder why they should buy camping chairs. Why dont we just buy regular chairs instead, they work just fine at home, they might ask.

Well, there are quite a few reasons for choosing camping chairs over the normal kind of chairs that you would buy to use inside your house.

The first, and most important, reason is directly related to the camping aspect of it. When you go camping you need to have something that is as small as possible, but still comfortable enough to relax in.

One thing you should not even think about when you go camping, is to bring one of the chairs you have inside your house. These chairs are not meant for camping. They are usually both big and heavy. Camping chairs on the other hand, are light and can be folded into a small item.

The fact that they are folding is probably the most important feature of camping chairs. It makes them well suited for the life on the road.

A camping chair does not have to be the same thing as another camping chair however. There are hundreds of different designs and they are all meant to be used for different things. On one hand you have the light and very small camping stools meant for long walks and on the other hand you have the luxurious and comfortable chairs that is mainly meant for relaxing in the camp.

But it is not only for camping that camping chairs are useful. You can use them for a lot of other things as well. The classic example is if you are throwing party at home, and you are a few chairs short. In this situation the camping chair that you have in the garage really comes in handy.

Of course there are plenty of other situations where a camping chair will come in handy. The thing is that they are chairs, but take less space.

Your Guide To Skydiving : The Basic Principles

By John Billington

In this installment of our skydiving guide we look at what to expect from the sport.

In skydiving, a jumper exits an airplane at heights of 10,000-18,000 feet (3,050-5,500 m) and moves through the air - downwards and horizontally - before opening a parachute.

When a skydiver leaves the plane, the force of gravity is much stronger than the air resistance and the speed of descent rapidly accelerates. But within a few seconds, and a descent of a few hundred or a thousand feet, the two forces equalize and acceleration ceases. The jumper has reached terminal velocity and is now falling at roughly 120-180 mph (193-290 kph).

The actual speed depends on the size of an individual's body and the posture assumed. Most people position their bodies with the arms spread out and the face and belly pointing to the ground, but higher speeds can be achieved through a diving-like posture with head down, arms together or by the side and legs together.

Once the jumper pulls the parachute cord, the main canopy is released. It fills with air, increasing the air resistance, which causes deceleration. The descent will slow down to a safe landing speed of about 10 mph.

The risks of skydiving (malfunctioning equipment, turbulence, mid-air collisions, etc.) are relatively low, with only about 1 jump in 100,000 leading to a fatality every year, but it's important to be alert and safety conscious at all time.

Training requirements vary according to the type of skydiving an individual intends to do. You can put in anything from one to eight hours of training, depending on whether you are preparing for tandem, static line or AFF (accelerated free fall) jumps. Training will teach you how to jump from the plane, use complex gear safely and effectively, and land safely. It will also cover basic physics on how the jumper's body and parachute work together and will outline various falling and maneuvering techniques.

Skydiving isn't cheap. It can cost between $50 and $200 for a jump, depending on the type of skydive and the status, facilities and location of the skydiving school. Equipment is not always provided by the school and skydivers may need factor in the expense of buying or hiring gear.

Cruise Vacations - Booking with a Travel Agent

By Shinto Pompay

How do you get the best cruise vacations package? Should you go to a travel agent, or should you just purchase a cruise package by yourself? Booking with a cruise specialist is the best way to get the best deal and discount when going on a cruise.

Why are travel agents better than booking by yourself? Typically, travel agents are affiliated with the cruise line and have good relationships with the cruise company. They are the middleman between you and Cruise Company and can negotiate better discounts and prices on your behalf. If you tried to haggle yourself, your efforts would probably be futile.

Travel agents do not charge for their services and work on commissions from the cruise line. The agent is like your personal business advisor and can help you along the way to make your purchase a smooth transaction. Travel agents can book packages and will have all of the information about surcharges, changes in travel plan, cruise fares, discounts and cancellation policies. Cruise lines are connected to these travel partners and travel agents can have up to date information at the tips of their fingertips.

You can expect your agent to find the best cruise ship for your specific needs. Some agents only have a limited supply of specific cruise lines so make sure that they are not limited and have a higher selection. When you decide to purchase a cruise, make sure that the final price is settled and that the settled price is exactly what you pay. If you do not feel comfortable with the travel agents changes to your itinerary or changes in price, be firm and make sure you do not let anyone intimidate you. Remember, they are on a commission and if you do not book with them, there is an eager agent that will gladly service you.

Some questions that you should ask a cruise agent are: do you have preferred suppliers, or do you book any cruise on any cruise ship? What additional costs will in incur? Have you sailed abroad the ship I want to book or that you are recommending? Is your agency bonded and insured? If so, by whom? These are just a few questions that a prudent shopper will ask when planning their cruise vacations.

Find Top Anglesey Attractions, Enhance Your Island Vacation

By David Phillips

Put some top Anglesey attractions on your checklist of things to do when you are planning your trip to this beautiful island in North Wales. Now that you've chosen your family's self-catering vacation cottage or caravan park base you can get down to discovering some of the exciting locations to visit. Anglesey is like a treasure trove of history and culture and you have to ease open the lid and see what's inside.

Near Holyhead on Holy Island is South Stack and its iconic Trinity House lighthouse perched on a rocky outcrop. You will find the views from this spot truly breathtaking, but be warned there are 400 steps to the bottom of the cliff and then you need to cross a bridge. But it's worth it with magical sea views over to Ireland and the Welsh coast, and get your binoculars to watch sea birds on the cliffs and learn about the rich 200 year history of the lighthouse.

The Oriel in Llangefni is a recently refurbished Arts Museum hosting up to around eighteen temporary exhibitions each year. A permanent gallery houses the Tunnicliffe Collection, amazing sketches of island birds and other fauna by this renowned naturalistic painter who worked in watercolours, oils and etching. There is also a gallery for the paintings of Kyffin Williams, a landscape painter as well a gallery which sweeps up the islands history from the Stone Age era.

Outside the village of Llanddeusant is Llynnon Mill, the only working windmill left in Wales, and what makes it special is you can watch the sails turn and then buy some freshly stone ground wholemeal flour from the adjacent shop. Nearby is an old bakery which can be reached by walking through some woods and there is also a marked path taking you to a nearby disused water mill. Also take a look at replicas of 2 roundhouses built around 3,000 years ago.

The Gaol at Beaumaris designed by Joseph Hansom was built in 1829 and of all the wonderful Anglesey attractions, it must be among the gloomiest though no less interesting. closed in 1878 as a gaol, it is now a museum dedicated to showing what life was like as a Victorian prisoner, where the last execution was in 1872. Feel what it must have been like in the dark punishment cell, and see the treadmill used to pump water to the top floor of the prison.

The Seawatch Centre at Moelfre on the east coast of the island shows how Anglesey attractions can really help visitors understand the past by engaging them with the present. In this quaint seaside village, much like a Mediterranean coastal settlement, you can board a real lifeboat and read about heroic rescues. You will also learn about the Royal Charter tragedy of 1859 and how Coxswain Dic Evans was awarded two gold medals for his courageous rescues.

Beaumaris Courthouse was built in 1614 and here you have the chance to walk around the old rectangular Court room, stand in the dock and visit the grand jury room. Discover where the prisoners were kept while they waited for the trial and learn about some of the infamous prisoners on Anglesey. In 1742 the trial was held of notorious robbers accused of stealing from ships wrecked in a violent storm off Rhosneigr on the south west coast.

Your stay on this island will never be short of places to go and things to do, and will have a taste of the past as well as experience the present. Anglesey has the ability to blend the historic with the exhilarating and tragic and you can be sure that when you look back on your vacation these Anglesey attractions will not be far from your thoughts.

How To Savour a Camping Vacation

By Wyatt Brayden

Are you preparing a camping vacation for the entire family? Fortunately it is a nice respite from the bustle of city life once in a while. Planning is the best key to the success of your vacation so here are some of the points on how you can be better organized for the holiday vacation ahead of you.

First of all, do research about the area or the campground where the vacation will be held. Check on every last free installation and essentials and see what they may lack and which involves specific care. Most of the furthest areas I have been do not usually have running water and baths.

In many cases, they might be working but they are not fit for imbibing, cleaning, washing or cooking so make sure to take with you adequate supplies of bottled H2O or carry some purification pills. Do not chance your family's wellness and safety just to be in a site that assures breath-taking views. To best savour it you must guarantee that your family's primary needs are considerably taken care of.

Before becoming too excited about visiting the Grand Canyon, you need to determine the climate and atmospheric conditions so that you will realize or at least gauge the correct type of clothing to bring with you on your travels.

Bring a proper sleeping bag for the weather and conditions of your camping vacation. If it is a hot climate destination then a light sleeping bag will be cheap and easy to get. If you will be camping out in a freezing climate destination then it is smart to buy a light yet strongly insulated and water immune sleeping bag.

Prepare and carry with you a well stocked first aid kit for emergency troubles. Make sure to have variable sizings of bandages, towels, alcohol, ointments, disinfecting sprays, comforting or preventive applications and other related requirements.

It is likewise advisable to take some antihistamines and pain alleviating medication. If there is somebody in the family that takes daily or regular medication, be prepared to take it with you to stave off any problems. Precautionary steps must be required so that you will not just enjoy the camping out trip but likewise travel healthy and comfortable.

During the winters, Sweden offers some fantastic opportunities to enjoy skiing, whatever your experience. There are many different ski opportunities throughout the country, and which one you select will probably depend upon your skill level. City breaks have always proved popular, and when it comes to arranging holidays to Sweden, there is a great deal of choice. Things To Expect From A Good Las Vegas Guide

By Las Vegas Tours

It seems as if we all think we have a good idea of what Las Vegas is, but that's really not the case. And because of that circumstance, deciding upon the right Las Vegas vacation guide might be the most important thing we do before heading off to that glittering jewel in the desert. After all, most of us haven't really even been there, and it'll come in handy.

What do all the good guides have in common? Well, they all take care to show how really jumping certain parts of Las Vegas can be, like the casinos and the Strip, for example. But all of them make sure they're not just huge discount coupon books and nothing else. The best guides take care to highlight all the fun parts of the city, in addition to the ever-present casino and gambling activity on the Strip.

The better guides also take the time to rate the various hotels and hotel-casino accommodations, too. Plus, they also evaluate many of the restaurants available (both casino and non-casino), and try to give a good accounting of which ones are worth trying and which ones aren't. Lastly, some try to help a person understand how casinos and gambling in them works.

There are several information-filled and easy-to-understand vacation guides online, too. Take the time to go to the Internet and check them out. Also, there are most likely several hundred Las Vegas Vacation guide type blogs and web entities about the town. They all emphasize different activities, with many of them focusing on the casinos and the Strip.

Using a good Las Vegas vacation guide is a recommended action to take when it comes to going on a vacation to that desert city. Try not to become overwhelmed by all the things to see and do and the recommendations in any of the guides, though. Use them like a tool, not like a school textbook.

Looking For And Finding Disneyland Discount Tickets

By Ethan Timmerton

When most people are asked about their favorite destination vacation, they will say they would like to go to Disneyland. There is something special about being able to be taken back to your childhood with Disney cartoon characters all around you. It excites even adults and makes them want to step inside Disneyland and see the character firsthand.

No matter how much many people may want to go to Disneyland, it still is a dream out of reach for them. This is because even though we would love to visit and re-live our childhood, the tickets cost more than many people can spend.

If you spend any time surfing the internet, you have seen that Disneyland discount tickets are offered by some places. The problem is that it is not as simple as going to Disney and simply asking for Disneyland discount tickets. There are other companies though, that have seen this is a problem for families who would like to go but can't afford it.

There is one thing that you can do to get Disneyland discount tickets that is especially nice. If you have a birthday in 2009, which you have to, then call them and tell them when the day arrives. You'll be asked to prove it is by some methods of identification, but once you do, they'll say you are eligible for a free ticket. Yes indeed - that's free. It's the ideal birthday present.

You may also consider purchasing your ticket online instead of waiting until you get to the front gates, in order to take advantage of possible discounts. Also, if you buy them far earlier than you plan on actually going you could get a discount.

Lastly, there are a number of travel agents online that may offer Disneyland Discount Tickets if you look hard enough. They offer promotions all the time and sometimes offer discount bundled packages if you buy a large number of tickets. Perform a search on the net but be warned that Disneyland only authorizes a certain number of companies to offer its discount tickets to the general public. So it's not that simple to find them. But with some luck, you'll find a great deal.

Because there is a lot of internet research required, finding Disneyland discount tickets is not as easy as you would like it to be. But it is worth the effort because of the joy you will feel when you find a ticket. If you want your dream to come true badly enough, you will search diligently.

Bring The Vacation Home!

If you happen to ask any of your friends about their choice of dream vacations, there is an even Steven chance that they might answer, "sipping a sangria, hot Jamaican sand beneath my feet" They are not alone in this wishful thinking. A large majority of us workaholics dream of a time when we can live the life of a beach dweller, living in a beach house looking out upon the ocean of our dreams.

However, until you manage to fulfill your ambitions and dreams of retiring to the south of France at the age of 50, you will have to make do with beach decor which brings back the nostalgic memory of your days in the sun, making sand castles and jumping on them, splashing everybody around you with water, and endearing yourself in many other such noisy ways to all the other holidaymakers.

That can be done by finding places where you can buy beach themed items to decorate your home with, which take you back to the sun and the sand, the beach and the seagulls, the midges and the sand flies.

You are also definitely not going to be disappointed if you are a confirmed addict to every form of sailing or boating. It does not matter if you happen to be a weekend sailor or are fortunate enough to live your life upon the sea. The different nautical or beach home decor products pertaining to the sea, ships, boats, beaches, marine life, and every other aspect of a tropical vacation can be found easily on the internet if you are looking for them.

Many of these themed products are hand crafted and also are exactly what you wanted, or to give as gifts - to other people who love the sun, sand, sailing, and slumbering by the side of the sea, as much as you do.

So what are you waiting for? Come back to memories of sun in your hair, the wind on your face, the sand beneath your feet, and possibly any other beautiful memories of a holiday in the sun, by choosing some beach or nautical dcor to place around your home - items like candles, accent pillows, rugs and bedding may do the trick.

Placing brightly colored painted outdoor wooden furniture on the patio or deck so you can relax while sipping a cocktail outside would be another idea. Throw in some themed party favors and invite the neighbors over and you could have your own beach party right in your own backyard!

Picnics: Free Fun!

By Barb Roehler

The summer months are the perfect time of year to enjoy the outdoors, and there is no better way to really have a great afternoon than by having a picnic. Picnics are fantastic because they are easy to put together, easy to clean up, and they can be as large or as intimate as you would like them. So if you are in the market to plan a picnic then dont wait, but you will want to spend a bit of time figuring out what type of picnic supplies you will want to have on hand to make it more enjoyable.

Where to sit? Depending on where you are having your picnic you will need to plan out where you are going to sit. Traditionally, most picnics take place on a blanket. They key to choosing the right blanket as part of your picnic supplies is that you want it to be durable, and most importantly washable. However, not all picnics take place on the ground. Many people take advantage of the tables and benches available at many park shelters or beaches. If this is more what you are looking for you might want to think about whether you are going to want something to cover the benches with? Do you simply want a tarp to protect your clothing, or are you looking for comfort? In that case you might want to choose a seat cushion as part of your picnic supplies.

What to take? Obviously picnics center around food, but the real question is how you are going to get it to your location. Picnic baskets are a fantastic option to help you cart your meal around. There are so many different styles and varieties of picnic baskets around that you will really have your pick of what you are looking for. Typically when thinking about picnic supplies you will want your basket to have cups, plates, flatware, and ample room to store your food. Those are the basics. However, there are fancier varieties that include wine baskets, wine glasses, salt and pepper shakers, cutting boards, and even cloth napkins. What you really should do is think about what your personal needs and wants are regarding picnic supplies, and then find yourself a basket that is tailor made to fit those.

What to do? A picnic is not made complete by simply eating outside. Instead, the activities are really part of what makes a picnic so memorable. The great thing about picnics is that they can provide a truly economical option for a days worth of entertainment. When packing your picnic supplies do not forget to pack some fun sports equipment like Frisbees, hula hoops, and/or a football. If you are headed for the beach what about packing up some water balloons and squirt guns? Or for a hiking adventure, why not print out a list for a nature scavenger hunt. And do not forget those relaxed moments in your picnic. Simply having a great book or new magazine can provide some quiet entertainment.

North Stradbroke Island - Profile

By Roger Marks

Affectionately known as Straddie by people from Brisbane, North Stradbroke Island is the postcard beach get-away. A little more than 30 km (19 miles) southeast of Brisbane and the Gold Coast, it languishes at the southern end of Moreton Bay. At 30 km (19 mile) long, it is one of the worlds largest, featuring beautiful beaches, a ragged coast and inland freshwater streams.

It lost its original name of Minijerribah in 1827, when Captain H. J. Rous, or Viscount Dunwich, Commander of the HMS Rainbow, named the isle after his father the Earl of Stradbroke, the main town after his own title, and Rainbow Beach after his ship.

A group of three picturesque villages - Dunwich, Amity Point and Point Lookout - act as convivial bases for many of the islands local and international visitors.

Dunwich was once a prison colony and quarantine station, and, as is often the case, its cemetery is a telling record of the islands historical past. At Point Lookout, the aptly named Whale Rock is the perfect spot from which to scan the vast oceans in search of migrating humpback whales, dolphins and turtles.

In the 1960s, sand mining operations began to impact on the fragile island environment, but by the 1990s environmental issues came dominant and half of the island became a national park. Mining is still very active on the island, but mainly away in the restricted southern end.

Point Lookout on the eastern surf side of the island is a natural draw-card. Spreading across Straddies single rocky headland it overlooks a set of white beaches. The western side enjoys the calmer waters of the bay and is safer for swimming. The island is famous for its angling - with the annual Straddie Classic every August being one of Australias richest and best-known fishing contests.

Boat Seats: Get Them For Free, Or Cheaply

By Frank Gehry

Few things are as pleasant as a trip on a boat with people that you like, whether it's a fishing trip, a leisure voyage out to the sea, or a weekend down a river. Even if it's your profession to be on a boat, there is something about being on the water that just makes it special.

Whether it's a sailing boat, a pontoon for a placid picnic on a lake, or for a fishing tour on a specially equipped boat, it's a great way to spend your time.

Boat seats are important to have on any on these leisure activities, and even more so if it is your work that's taking you out onto the water. But it's not always desirable to pay the whole price for seating as it might turn out to be quite expensive.

Any boating hobbyist or professional will surely appreciate that if an exchange of boat seats is necessary, it is better to spend less than the full price on them.

Used boat seats are one of the most immediate answers to this problem. Look at the classifieds of trade papers, or at the club in your local harbor. Ask any friends that you have who enjoy the same pastime if they have any boat seats to sell, or if they know anyone. While used boat seats may require some repairs, they will be a great bargain.

As for new boat seats, one option is to buy in bulk. Get your boating friends from the club together to negotiate a price with a dealer, and even if you get different seats, chances are high that you will get a good discount.

You should also make sure that you are taking advantage of any special offers that local retailers may have on boat seats. Always ask if they have anything on offer, even if it's not advertised directly, but make sure that you enquire and understand why the boat seat is on offer!

Buying boat seats aftermarket is another possibility - there are dozens of retailers specializing in aftermarket and end-of-the-line boat seats and other accessories. Scout them out and you may just find a deal that is right for you.

Another great option is buying boat seats online, through the Internet. Online shops have lower overheads and are therefore able to pass on reductions to the customer. Plus, if you buy a seat that you don't like the retailer must give you a guaranteed full refund.

You can also try buying boat seats at auctions, either online auctions like eBay or offline ones which could be held in your local area.
