Activities In Brisbane

Brisbane is the perfect destination for outdoor activities, giving it's perfect climate. It is a relatively flat city and has various parks for you to enjoy walks, cycling and skating to your hearts content.

Cycling: With over 5,000 kms of cycle ways across Brisbane there are many rides to choose from. If you like you can take a ride around the river, explore the suburbs or even cycle around Moreton Bay. There is a booklet, Brisbane Bicycle Experience Guide, in the tourist information centres that will give you details on the numerous paths. Their are some scenic routes that follow the river, from 5 to 20 kms, or you can start off easy at the City Botanic Gardens and cross the Goodwill Bridge to the University of Queensland. Bikes are allowed on the City trains, with the exception of peak hours, City Cats and Ferries for free.

In-Line Skating: Many of the cycle tracks are also great for eating. Places like Skatebiz, on Albert Street, offer skate rental and safety equipment rentals to anyone who needs. Some other places that are great for skating include Southbank Parklands, City Botanic Gardens and Brisbane River paths.

Rock Climbing: This is one of the most popular past times in Brisbane, with many wonderful places to explore. You can start at the Cliffs Rock Climbing area at Kangaroo Point, these pink volcanic cliffs are now home to a rock climbing wall. This wall is suitable for all climbing expertise levels and are lit until midnight. Indoor climbing is also available at Urban Climb, in West End or Rock Sports, in Fortitude Valley. Clubs such as K2 Extreme and Torre Mountain Craft also offer mountain climbing and abseiling classes.

Swimming: Of course, the favourite place to swim has got to be the out door artificial lagoon at Southbank Parklands. Aside from this there are many other pools on offer: Centenary Pool has an attached fitness center and is a 50 meter pool and high diving .There is also a toddlers wading pool; Spring Hill Baths is heated and open all year round offering lessons, aqua aerobics and a dip into history; It is Brisbane's first in ground public baths built in 1886. Try out the quirky historic changing cubicles.

Skydiving and Ballooning: The Brisbane Skydiving Centre Picks up from the CBD and offers partner skydives over Brisbane, including a 30 minute scenic flight. You can also organize a balloon flight through, Fly Me to the Moon and enjoy the breathtaking scenic views from the north beyond the Glass House Mountains to the south at Boarder Ranges. Flights usually depart at daybreak and travel between 10-15km for about an hour. During your flight a 4WD will follow on the ground to take you back to your starting destination after you land.

UK Funky Gaining Recognition Across The British Music Industry

Funky house has had a big effect on British nightlife and the UK clubbing scene. UK funky house music is becoming widely recognized by many artists, music producers and dj's. This has resulted in funky songs being increasingly played across radio stations, music channels and in nightclubs.

"UK funky" is the term used to describe funky house music in the UK; it is a type of house music. Its a blend house music and electronic dance music from Africa and the Caribbean. The composition of UK funky music mainly consists of soulful vocals, synthesizers, samples and percussions.

The catchy hooks often used in UK funky tracks are a major contributor to the growth of interest in the genre. Hooks such as "it's time to get funky" and "say no more" are being widely used amongst clubbers. The widespread use of these sayings has been greatly assisted by the rise in support for artists such as MC Versatile and Coldsteps.

Producers and artists are starting to notice the significance of funky house music and are beginning to target fans of the music style. There has been an increase in the number of music tracks produced which is aimed directly at the UK funky house market. Artists like Crazy Cousinz and Donaeo have benefited from adapting there style to suit the genre.

Music event promoters and nightclub owners have become aware of the importance of funky house, and are specifically targeting its audience. There are now several funky house only club nights and events. These events are sometimes called "raves"; many of these events often take place in major venues like SeOne and Ministry of Sound.

The genre is also being heavily pushed by UK radio stations and television channels, such as BBC 1xtra and MTV Base. The support of these organizations has helped boost the popularity of UK funky house music.

Tim Westwood and other leading deejays have been helping to promote UK funky house music. Allowing upcoming British artists to appear on their shows, they are creating awareness for UK funky. Many Dj's find it crucial to add funky house songs in their playlists, because they are known to be dance floor fillers.

As the role of UK funky house music grows within the nightlife community, it will continually gain recognition as an influential music style. Along with the support of the UK music industry, funky house is destined have a big impact on British music.
